FAQs

We at Pool Xperts are here to provide any kind of service that your pool might require. Time and again many of our clients have asked us some very important questions. You can find a list of some of them in below. If there is anything else that you would want to know, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How Much Does It Cost To Maintain My Swimming Pool?

The cost of maintaining a swimming pool varies according to the needs of each individual pool.  We offer various services and plans to accommodate this.

Factors We Consider Include:

  • Equipment Capabilities
  • Gallons of Water to Be Chemically Treated
  • Regular Usage
  • Surrounding Landscape

How Often Does My Pool Need To Be Cleaned?

It really depends on the needs of each pool. Contrary to the popular belief of most pool companies and homeowners the average, our experience has taught us that unless there are extreme conditions such as heavy regular usage, lots of trees, etc., residential pool in good working condition is able to be properly maintained using only one visit every other week, saving you hundreds of dollars per year. Currently we successfully maintain most of our customer’s pools in our popular “every other week monthly cleaning plan”.

Is It Cheaper For Me To Maintain The Pool Myself Instead Of Hiring Someone?

A swimming pool is a complex system that requires knowledge and consistent care or it could be very costly in the long run. Also, chemicals are very expensive and their misuse could lead to serious and costly repairs. That’s why a pool is more than just a body of water.

Should I Maintain My Pool During The Winter Months?

Yes, indeed, winter is the most crucial time to maintain your pool equipment working properly. It is a fact that freeze damage is the leading factor for most of the major and costly repairs, not only to the pool equipment but also to the pool’s structure and plumbing. Considering this fact, for your benefit we recommend that you maintain the pool under regular professional care all year. Remember- “It is always better to be safe than sorry.”

Will I Still Need to Occasionally Add Chemicals?

No. Our service will properly treat your pool and keep it sparkling clear. In the event that you have a unique situation, we can arrange a special service call (for no additional charge unless caused by equipment problem, or we are locked out on your service day).

How Will I Know that You Have Serviced My Pool?

We leave a service card at a convenient place near your pool on which we record the date, time and services rendered for each visit.

Why Is My Pump Making Loud Noises?

There are several reasons why this can be occurring. The pump motor bearings are failing and the motor needs to be replaced. There could be a partially blocked suction line causing pump noise in the way of cavitations. The pump could also be oversized for the application causing the pump noise and possibly overheat. Give us a call and we can diagnose the problem for you.

How Often Does My Pool Filter Need to Be Cleaned?

This is dependent upon several factors. (The size of your pool, size of your pool filter, the type of pool filter you have, bather and contaminant loads most manufactures recommend a minimum of twice a year complete filter tear down and cleaning.

Why Have Salt Water Pools Become So Popular?

Most people who consider themselves “sensitive” or “allergic” to chlorine are not reacting to the chlorine at all. What are creating a problem are packaged pool chemicals and the additives and carriers in those chemicals. Those same swimmers, who claim allergic reactions to chlorine, typically experience no problems when they are in a salt-water pool. The answer isn’t the absence of chlorine. Salt systems create their own chlorine. The answer is the absence of all the packaged chemicals and by-products in those chemicals.

Is It True That with a Salt System I Will Never Use Chlorine In My Pool Again?

FALSE, this is one of the most common misconceptions. Even if you have a salt pool you will have to add chlorine to your pool, especially in the winter months. Manufacturers of salt cells have installed a temperature sensor on the board that controls the cell. When water temperatures drop below 50oF or raise above 104oF the sensor will send a signal to the cell that will disable it in order to avoid damaging the plates of the electrolytic cell. That is why during the winter months we need to have a secondary sanitizer (usually chlorine tabs).

Why Does My Polaris Run on Its Side?

If your bag is full of debris it may affect how your cleaner operates. Make sure you empty the filter bag regularly. Check for water in the head float by removing it from the cleaner and shaking it. If there is water in the float, replace it. Finally, make sure your hose floats are floating and are spaced properly on the feed hose. The clear hose should have one float behind the back-up valve and another float upstream 2-3 feet (toward the pool wall). Then on the 2 white hoses the floats should be no less than 1-1/2 feet and no more than 3 feet apart.

How Do I Know If My Pool Main Drain Covers Are Compliant with the VGB Pool & Spa Safety Act?

If you have not replaced your pool drains since December 19, 2008 then they are not compliant. If you have replaced them since then, and they are stamped properly, they are compliant. They usually expire every 5-7 years and need to be replaced.

Do You Offer Financing?

We do not offer in-house financing, but have third party companies that specialize in pool loans. The financing of the project is the responsibility of the homeowner. We recommend you get your own financing so you are in control of disbursing your funds. We advise you not to finance with the same pool builder, since you have no recourse once you have signed the bottom line. If you need help with financing visit lending Lyon.
